How to Show Up With Impact

You know how they say there are some people who walk into a room and the atmosphere changes? In a good way?

There are people who make their presence felt, who you can’t help to notice? Well, I think there’s a way to create that effect intentionally.

So, if you’ve ever felt like a wallflower or awkward in a meeting or room of people and are open to trying some new ideas, here are my thoughts…

  • Act like you are on a mission. In fact, be on a mission. Work out in advance, what you are doing there, what you want and what success looks like. This will give you much more clarity of purpose and focus your energies.

  • Either research who’s going and create a target list of who you want to speak to OR go with a specific target of what you want to achieve from that meeting or event. Once you’ve achieved the target then you’re done. You’ll feel a sense of accomplishment and can leave.

  • Use your physicality: head high, shoulders back, full height and width, soften the frown and check your face isn’t in a scowl!

  • Look pleased to see people! Look interested, be interested, get curious. That saying, ‘they make me feel like I’m the only person in the room’ means you are giving someone your full attention and focus. It’s very flattering and charming. So do it!

  • Bring the energy. Remember that most people in any meeting or event are actually likely to be feeling a bit nervous, out of place, unsure, and aimless so if you bring the positive energy and lead the way, others will follow. I promise.

Okay, if you try these out, please let me know what works!

Remember, be fearlessly you. It takes work, but it’s worth it!
