A Word Game to try if you are Feeling Down

Do you ever have days where you just feel a bit meh, blue or even bleak?

I DO.

Whatever the reason for said mood, the reality is that for most people,

we have to keep on keeping on

and keep finding the resources to keep on keeping on.

I didn’t want to share it because it feels a bit silly, but here it is. If it helps someone, then I will be happy!

So what I’ve tried lately is, if I notice myself feeling down, I’ll spend some time

  • Processing that feeling

  • Understanding the root cause and then,

  • Play this word game

So, if I wake up feeling ‘bleak’, for example, I will take each letter of bleak and create a more positive word. For example:

B - Bouncy

L - Loved

E - Eager

A - Adventurous

K - Knock their socks off

And in my head,

1) I’ll repeat that as a sort of mantra throughout the day.

2) Try to approach the day with those words in mind.

It seems to give a positive twist to how I am feeling and a direction in which to go.

So instead of moping too much and dwelling in a rut, it spurs me into positivity, gratitude or action.

I don’t know if this would help you in moments when you are down, but I’d love to know what you think.

Take care and look after yourselves.
