Stop B*tching, Start Stitching

My friends, I have stopped b*tching and started stitching!  Literally.

I had been quietly irritated with myself for months. Too much scrolling. Too much phone. Too much “just one more look.” You know the story. Low-level drain on time, focus and energy.

I could have kept moaning about it.

But I was inspired by some friends came to stay in the holidays who brought their knitting.  Just watching them and a trip to my local yarn shop I rekindled my knitting passion!

Instead, I picked up some needles.

And something shifted.

I wasn’t just not scrolling — I was making.

Row by row, something tangible appeared where there had previously been… nothing but thumb movement and mild regret.

This week I finished my first jumper. And I’m really happy with it.

Not because it’s perfect (it isn’t).

But because it was a positively enjoyable solution to a persistent niggle I had.

Knitting has reminded me of a principle I often talk about:

Own, don’t moan.

If something isn’t working, do something. Even something small. Action changes energy.

And knitting, like careers and leadership, comes with its lessons:

  • You will make mistakes

  • Sometimes you have to go back and fix them properly

  • Sometimes you improvise and find a creative workaround

  • Progress is built one row at a time

  • Sometimes the greatest satisfaction is the journey

  • Sometimes finished beats perfect

So if there’s something in your life you’ve been quietly complaining about — distraction, drift, lack of progress — try replacing the moan with a move.

It doesn’t have to be knitting.

But it does have to be action.

Stop b*tching. Start stitching.

(Or your equivalent.)

And if anyone wants this pattern, message me.
