How to survive the holidays

Last year, I think I told you how much I turn into a Bah Humbug Scrooge at Christmas, what with the extra expense, consumerism, buying, wrapping, clearing up, cooking, buying, cleaning etc. I won’t go on.

Of course, there is so much I love about the holidays, namely, being with the family and having quality time.

But no-one can tell me it's a relaxing time of year - unless maybe you are one of those people who flies away to the Caribbean and has everything done for you by a team of other people - ah, one day!

Anyway, if you are like me and find the holiday season somewhat daunting and draining, then here are some tips I’ve found that work:

  1. Delegate! Hate wrapping, don’t do it - get someone else to do it. Or, I just saw a friend post a tree with lots of Amazon parcels underneath it to which she’d added a bow - genius!

  2. Repeat the mantra - my presence IS your present. Who’s gonna miss the last-minute present you didn’t manage to get? Seriously, how many people remember the presents they got last year? We have too much stuff, people!

  3. Take some time to do EXACTLY what you want to do. Yes, it can be fun joining in with Rudolph and all the reindeer games but if you fancy heading to your room with the Lindor balls and watching something on your laptop for a bit, just do it!

Okay, those are my three tips. Send me yours if you have good ones.

I will see you on the other side!
